Being raw on a long plane ride

Last Wednesday on a 12-hour flight to NYC, I had two raw vegetarian meals on board. I was surprised to learn that ANA provided such an option. Though it was great they catered to all kinds of vegetarians, I found their raw vegan offerings rather meager in size and variety.
Basically the meals were made [...]

Harvest soup for autumn

One of my fave raw meals is a simple soup and salad combo. I got the recipe from Kristen’s Raw blog, and oh my, did it tantalise my taste buds. It’s one of the rare soups I’ve encountered that doesn’t have avocado, but I think it would taste fantabulous with some avo. What I like [...]

Teaching bento

I teach English part-time and occasionally I don’t have time between lessons to go home for a nice raw meal.
So, I take out my bento and throw together a yummy lunch on-the-go.

Zucchini pasta with brown mushrooms and carrot hearts. I made a creamy hemp basil sauce to go with it, plus a couple of [...]

Raw food disasters

I know, raw food looks sexy and scrummy, but once in a while, I get horrible mishaps in my raw kitchen.
Like this one: Irish moss blueberry pie. I watched this video on Irish moss and got super excited about using less nuts in my pies (I am finding that too many nuts in my diet [...]

Making perfect raw pasta

Ever since I got this wonderful contraption, I’ve been in raw pasta heaven.

You can buy this vegetable spiral slicer from here. It’s cheap and you can make zucchini, carrot, and beet noodles in just a pinch. Gone are the days when I slaved with just a cheap-ass scraper type of veggie slicer which actually gives [...]
