Café Blossom in NYC
I told you I was on a raw vegan/vegan restaurant hunt during my trip in the US. I’ve still got a few more reviews up my sleeve, if you can believe it.
Before trotting off to the American Museum of Natural History, I took myself to Columbus Ave (between 82nd and 83rd Street) to try the famous raw sweet potato rolls at Cafe Blossom.
Oh my. I’m so glad I did because these gorgeous pieces of food art just exploded with delicious flavours in my mouth. The almond butter dip had hints of shoyu and the rolls themselves were stuffed with thinly sliced veggies and small slivers of almond jelly. I don’t know if the almond jelly was raw but it was great all the same.
Café Blossom is definitely famous for its cooked vegan fare, though they have big salads and 3-4 raw items.
One of the things I love to eat once in a while is a hefty cooked vegan burger and this portobello mushroom burger completely hit the spot.
The “cheese” was incredible and had a pungent fermented flavour like real cheese.
The other surprise I had was discovering how good sweet potato fries are, especially when dipped in vegan ketchup.
The portions at Café Blossom were huge and I couldn’t finish the whole burger so I took it home and had it for lunch the next day.

Wow cafe clossom looks totally awesome – it makes me wish i lived in NYC!
