Caravan of Dreams: A proper review

Despite the fact that I ate at quite a few veggie places, I felt heavy and bloated from chowing on cooked vegetarian options at non-veggie places in New York, so one night when I was on my own, I craved a raw dinner so I went back to Caravan of Dreams (website here).

I loved the friendly, cozy atmosphere, which made dining solo comfortable.

I wanted something cleansing so I chose a hardcore beet juice with kale and other greens.

The Live Nachos were pretty good but it’s something I have all the time because it was really flax crackers with guacamole drizzled with raw sour cream. I expected some nut meat that would masquerade as beans or minced beef but I guess it was just an appetizer so it was made less complicated.

The best thing about this meal was the raw chocolate brownie at the end. It was unusual to have dried coconut shavings sprinkled on top that gave it a richer flavour. The cinnamon sauce also lent an extra sweet kick to the whole ensemble.

I enjoyed it very much but I realized that eating so much raw food in one sitting (the amount which I space out through one day!) was hard work on my system. So much for wanting a light, fresh raw meal…
