Raw bar shopping in SF
Being raw is no small feat, but staying raw on the road is something that’s at the next level of difficulty. I try to not obsess over being raw when it’s too hard but I do make an effort to have breakfast and my snacks raw.
Sometimes I want something heavier than an apple or banana, so I like to keep raw bars in my pockets to keep hunger pangs at bay.
I went a little nuts with the Larabars but I threw in a few more than I needed because the non-raw fiancé also likes them as snacks when driving or our next meal is too far away to bear.
I heard that Larabars no longer declare themselves as raw and their reason was that there doesn’t seem to be a standard of what is considered raw so it seemed better to do without the label. But again, I’m happy to be able to be vegan when on the road and a high raw Larabar is way better than chips or cookies.
I also read that their Ginger Snap and Pistachio bars are still 100% raw, so I got those.
I can’t really take too much raw cacao or even cocoa powder because they render me sleepless at night but I got them anyway because they looked soooooo good! I made it a point to have them in the early afternoon and it helps that the non-raw fiancé is a chocolate monster.
These peanut infused bars totally rock my tastebuds on the road but alas they are not raw because the peanuts are roasted. But I really don’t care…
I bought these spirulina buckwheat bars for times when I need a snack that isn’t so sweet. Larabars are awesome but the date paste can get too cloying, especially when I’ve had a fruit filled morning of green smoothies.
Convenient raw food has helped me stay fairly healthy during this US trip. I’m just so glad for Whole Foods.

Hey great blog! I love it here!
I know…being in the US makes it so easy and stress-free to be raw or vegan/vegetarian!
Aw, I miss Whole Foods so much…
I’m really liking this blog!
