Smoothie habits
Of late, I’ve been changing up my smoothie habits. I used to put spinach in every single smoothie I made but I’ve had different cravings lately.
This is frozen pineapple, banana, hemp seeds and cilantro/coriander. I cannot live without hemp seeds now and I just love how they make the flavour of my green drinks deeper, almost like dairy, but it’s not!
The other habit I’ve got into is sprinkling bee pollen onto smoothies for a quick vitamin B fix. It’s so energizing and I always have this when I feel a bit tired.
This one’s raspberry, goji berries, hemp powder, banana, and hemp seeds. Big yum. Sometimes I like to have non-green looking smoothies and hemp powder lets you have the power of greens but without the colour! Don’t get me wrong, I love bright green smoothies, but recently, brownish looking smoothies don’t seem as appealing as before. Well, brown or grey smoothies come about when you mix blue/red fruit with green — they taste good but my mood for these have waned slightly. Maybe it’s hormones….Sigh.

where to get hemp seeds in sg? i like to put wild rocket in my smoothies =P
Hmm, I don’t think hemp seeds are sold in SG, so you would have to buy them online.
Wow, wild rocket – woohoo! For me, arugula and wild rocket are a bit too spicy and sharp.
Hormones??? I
*I love gojiberries* – something fell out in the other comment
Wild rocket smoothie really tastes delicious with lemon and a little bit of honey. I have this problem, it’s either spinach or rocket for me when I made green smoothies. Tried other local veges (singapore) but they taste really strong. Bak choy, cabbages and lettuces were ok. What other local green vegetables will you recommend for making green smoothies? Gojiberries, raisins and almonds are delicious too.
Well, I don’t live in Singapore now and wasn’t raw till I lived in Tokyo so I’m not sure which local veggies taste good in smoothies. But Iike you, I enjoy having bok choy and romaine lettuce in smoothies. I love Italian parsley, too.
@mariannes: If there is one raw food that is cheap in Tokyo, it’s goji berries. I saw how much they were in the US and it was shocking. USD20 for a small packet….but it’s about USD4 in Tokyo for the same weight.
Yeah we have asian markets that sell them fairly cheap (approx 230 yen for 100gram) – but if you buy them at a health food/whole foods shop it is insane how much it costs. But durians on the other hand….
